How long will it take a pet octopus to get used to its environment?
My boyfriend has had an octopus for three weeks. It stays in a large, cavernous piece of live rock and positions itself so that it is able to see out into the tank and into the room. We know that he comes out, on occasion, when we aren’t at the house. We’ve witnessed him move quickly back into the rock at the sound of the door opening. I know that octopi are sedate and nocturnal, but at some point they become used to their surroundings. Who has experience with saltwater fish and can help me with this answer? Do I have a particularly bashful and self-preserving cephalopod on my hands?

try hiding his food in unusual spots. cephalopods are smart and enjoy stimulation..
